Event kit hire request

To help manage waste at your event, you can hire bins and flags from the Dunedin City Council (DCC), free of charge. To book your event kit, please complete this form.

DCC event kit hire agreement

  • All equipment provided for hire remains the property of the DCC.
  • A completed Terms and Conditions (T&C) form must be submitted to the Waste and Environmental Solution team at least 10 working days before the scheduled bin collection date. Agreement to these T&Cs, by way of filling out the declaration field in this form, is required before any event waste equipment can be collected
  • Equipment must be returned on the agreed return date. If this is not possible, contact 488 2467. Any alternative return time must be within 24 hours of the original return date and time.
  • The DCC will make every effort to provide the requested items but reserves the right to supply equivalent alternatives if necessary.
  • If equipment is returned damaged, dirty, or with missing parts, the hirer will be invoiced for repair, cleaning or replacement costs. It is the hirer's responsibility to protect all equipment from loss or damage until it is returned.
  • The DCC accepts no liability for any damage to property or injury to persons resulting from use of the hired equipment.
  • The hirer assumes full liability for any injury or damage caused to themselves, their team, or property while using the equipment.
  • Delivery, set-up, and servicing (including recycling or landfill disposal) are not included in the hire.
  • DCC staff or contractors will inspect items at pick-up. The hirer must also check all items upon collection/delivery and notify DCC immediately of any missing or damaged goods.
  • The DCC is not responsible for delays due to circumstances beyond its control.
  • Use of the DCC event waste equipment includes mandatory reporting. You will need to send us data of waste diverted at your event. Reporting instructions will be provided at the time of hire.

Please note:

Alternative arrangements need to be made for collecting paper and cardboard such as cardboard cages and paper only recycling bins.

It is recommended that 240L black bag bin liners are used so as the materials can be removed easily, and the bins can be cleaned before their return.
