Waikouaiti Coast

Each year the Waikouaiti Coast Community Board produces a Community Plan that describes the area, its environment, community and its industries.

The Community Plan also outlines what goals the Waikouaiti Coast Community Board aim to achieve for the future year.

Application for Funding

The Waikouaiti Coast Community Board has some discretionary funding available to fund community projects. The allocation of those funds follows the guidelines outlined in the Community Board's Community Plan above. Applications should be made on the following form.

Alasdair Morrison (Chair)

Alasdair operates his own engineering consultancy company, after working in a variety of positions in the shipping industry including Merchant Navy Engineer Officer, Marine Engineering Training Officer, and other engineering companies in Auckland and Dunedin.

He has served on many committees including NZ Heavy Engineering Research Association, NZ Engineering Federation and also assists with running Dunedin's Christian Fellowship for Disabled.

Music, gardening, golf and photography are some of Alasdair's favourites hobbies.

Geraldine Tait (Deputy Chair)

Geraldine is a community worker employed by Age Concern Otago as coordinator for South Senior Focus, a day activity centre for elderly people in South Dunedin. She also works for the North East Valley Community Programme organising adult and children's recreation classes and providing support for a range of other community services and groups. She is involved with the Forbury, School and Community Group.

Geraldine has enjoyed living in the Blueskin Bay area for 26 years and has taken a strong interest in environmental and community issues. She has a daughter who is a university student living in Dunedin.

Geraldine's interests include running a small farm, gardening, reading and walking on our beautiful beaches.

Andrew Barratt

A graduate (BA (Hons), PhD) of Durham University in England, I came to Dunedin in 1977 to take up a post at the University of Otago, where I went on to hold a number of senior positions. I left the University in 2003 to devote my energies to developing the small farm that I run with my wife, Sue.

I am a Board member of Dunedin Rural Development, Co-Chair of River-Estuary Care Waikouaiti-Karitane, Chair of the Coastal Otago Branch, NZ Tree Crops Assn and Liaison Officer for Otago Organics.

Murray Holland

Murray has worked in Real Estate sales for the past 12 years. He has been in the Lions Club of Palmerston for the past 36 years. Murray also holds a Manager's Licence for Motels.

Murray has had an interesting and varied career working as a stock agent/auctioneer, the General Manager of a meat export company, a Motelier, the Owner/Manager of a tourist motor inn and a sheep and beef farmer.

Murray's interests include Outdoor Bowls, fishing (trout and salmon) and gardening (hydroponics).
