In response to feedback we have revised the parking layout within the retail centre and come up with a draft new parking layout. All on-street parking in the retail centre will remain free.
The problem
The area needed more short-term, free parking with more turnover to support shops and businesses in the retail centre.
The solution
Have short stay parking along King Edward Street, a mix of short and long stay parking in the surrounding streets and unrestricted parking in the streets on the outer edges of the retail centre.
To achieve the solution
A new parking layout has been implemented. The main changes are as follows:
- Change all P15s and P10s to P5s to make it consistent with the rest of the city.
- Introduce P120 on Glasgow Street between Sullivan Avenue and Hillside Road.
- Retain all-day parking spaces on Glasgow Street between Sullivan Avenue and Macandrew Road.
- Introduce more short term parking in Hillside and McBride.
Aim
- To improve the visibility of parking facilities in the retail centre
- To relocate some time restricted parking spaces as a result of improvements to King Edward Street
