Dunedin City Council – Kaunihera-a-rohe o Otepoti

Grants allocated in March 2026

In March 2026, the Dunedin City Council (DCC) allocated a total of $249,924.53 in grants from the following grant funds (see below)

The allocations include both DCC-funded grants, Creative Communities Scheme and Waste Minimisation grants (administered by the DCC on behalf of Creative New Zealand and the Ministry for the Environment respectively).

Biodiversity

Curtis Dudley Revegetation of modified farmland in the Strath Taieri, focusing on the establishment of indigenous shrubland, wetland and riparian vegetation. $2,250.00
Gerben Ponne Continue revegetation efforts for a large-scale, long-term ecological restoration project within a QEII covenant. $4,050.00
Junichi Sugishita Revegetation of degraded farmland adjacent to large QEII covenant on Mount Cargill, including installation of rabbit exclusion fencing to assist in revegetation efforts. $2,970.00
Land Rover Owners Club (Otago) Riparian restoration project in the upper Waitati catchment to upgrade fencing around Cedar Creek and revegetate riparian margins. $4,775.00
Saint Clair Golf Club Convert areas of coastal golf course into indigenous coastal forest and shrubland. $2,390.00
Cape Saunders Farm Limited (Rachel Kerr) Revegetation of stock excluded areas on a coastal property at Cape Saunders. $4,055.00
Bec Pearson Restoration of wetland and riparian margins on a coastal Kuri Bush property. The project focuses on improving freshwater quality, wetland function, and enhancement of coastal values through revegetation of stock excluded areas. $4,775.00
Ohad Dar Revegetation of harvested 3-hectare exotic forestry block with indigenous species on Saddle Hill. $2,385.00
Alister Young Purchase indigenous plants to support ongoing ecological restoration at the Broad Bay coastal site. $1,510.00
East Otago Catchment Group (Steph Scott) Fencing and revegetation of approximately 1.35 ha of riparian and slope areas in the Waipaku/Post Office Creek catchment. $4,775.00
