Integrated System Plan – Planning for the Next 50 Years

DCC has spent the past five years working in partnership with mana whenua to create a comprehensive and robust plan to keep our drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services reliable, safe, and affordable for the next 50 years and beyond.

The Integrated System Plan (ISP) has been developed using physical investigations, complex modelling of our three waters infrastructure, technical data and input from our key stakeholders, Otago Regional Council and Taumata Arowai.

The plan outlines:

  • what our three waters infrastructure and services look like right now,
  • the challenges we are facing,
  • what we need to achieve to protect and future-proof our assets and services,
  • the pathway to get there.

The full plan is quite extensive and contains quite complex and detailed information. We have summarised the ISP in an attempt to make our plans easier to read and understand. This summary is available as a PDF download below.

Planning for the future of water

The ISP programme is an integral part of future planning for 3 Waters for the next 50 years. It is used to support and inform several other key DCC and 3 Waters related documents. It primarily informs the Asset Management Plans (AMPs) which in turn inform the proposed capital expenditure budgets in the draft 9 year plan 2025-34 and Infrastructure Strategy (IS).
