Servicing Assessment: Drinking water, wastewater and stormwater

The Servicing Assessment is an assessment of communities’ access to drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services in the Dunedin City Council (DCC) territorial area, including both DCC-operated and non-DCC services.

This is a point-in-time, staff-led assessment. Its purpose is to provide an evidence-based understanding of current three waters servicing arrangements across the district, including risks, capacity, and potential public health and environmental impacts.

The Servicing Assessment has been conducted by staff of the 3 Waters group in accordance with the requirements of section 69 of the Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025 (LGWSA). This document also records a DCC assessment of communities’ stormwater and wastewater services conducted in accordance with the requirements of section 71 of the LGWSA.

The Servicing Assessment forms part of a wider planning cycle. It will inform development of the Water Services Strategy 2027-37, to be developed over the coming year. That Water Services Strategy will identify priorities, levels of service, and investment.
