Long Term Plan becomes Annual Plan

It’s annual plan time again, so we are wanting to tell you what’s new, what’s changed and how to comment on our Annual Plan 2024-2025.

Annual Plan 2024-25

You might remember that we were doing a Long Term Plan for 2024-2034. We asked you about that towards the end of 2023. But now that has changed.

Why are we doing an Annual Plan this year?

In February the Government repealed the 3 Waters legislation (The Water Services Acts Repeal Act 2024), and we are not expecting the new legislation until June and December 2024. Given the uncertainty around 3 Waters we have taken up the opportunity given by the Government to do a one year plan instead.

What will happen with the Long Term Plan?

While there is likely to be some disappointment that the Long Term Plan 2024-2034 is being delayed, it will only be by one year. This will give us time to understand what the Government is planning around 3 Waters. Then we will consult and engage with the community on a 9 Year Plan 2025-2034. That will probably start in December this year.

Annual Plan next steps

Work is now underway to prepare an Annual Plan for 2024-2025 . From 28 March you can tell us what you think about our Annual Plan 2024-2025 by going online to fill in an online submission form . You will also be able to pick up a submission form from any of our libraries and service centres . Submissions close at 12 noon on the 24 of April 2024. Hearings and deliberations will be held in May and the Annual Plan will be adopted by 30 June 2024.
