Mark Brown

I have lived and worked in Waitati for over 40 years. Along with my wife Clare and daughter Sally, we own and operate Blueskin Nurseries and Café, which during peak season employs approximately 20 people.

I am actively involved with several organisations in the Waitati area and have been a Community Board Member for 12 years. I believe in supporting local business and groups wherever possible and encourage the DCC to do the same. It is of great advantage to both Council staff and our community to use the expertise within it. A good example is the plantation replanting at Waikouaiti. It is important that the Community Board continue to support smaller groups within its area as many now miss out under the new community-based funding system.
