Cr Bill Acklin

This is my fourth term as a Dunedin City Councillor. It comes after having served three terms from 2004-2013, then standing successfully again in 2022.

I am very proud of the achievements of the Council in my previous term; Forsyth Barr Stadium, the Dunedin Town Hall/Dunedin Centre redevelopment, and the expansion of Toitu/Settlers Museum just to name a few.

This new triennium brings new challenges; 3 waters, roading issues such as the one-way system and traffic flow/parking and the new hospital build.

I feel privileged to be appointed chair of the new standing committee ‘Civic Affairs’. The restructuring of standing committees is going to be a good thing to help identify and isolate the various issues Council faces in a way that things don’t get missed.

I look forward to the opportunities we have to promote Dunedin as a great place to live and visit, at the same time, preserving all the wonderful things the city already has to offer our residents.
