My principal place of residence is in the Strath Taieri Community Board area.
My nomination for the Strath Taieri Community Board is for but one purpose; to ensure that there are sufficient candidates registered to trigger an election.
In my opinion the community board needs to be looking to the future rather than looking backwards. The future belongs to the younger generation/s. It is they who need to be making the decisions which will impact them and their families in the years to come. For too long decisions have been put on the back-burner because they have not been seen as being important or because they challenge inherent biases held by some of the presiding board members. One could politely refer to this as a case of generational myopathy.
I urge all voters to give their support to younger candidates. It would also be great if the incoming community board reflects the population demographics that it is meant to actually represent.
