Rankeilor Street carpark to close for repair work

Rankeilor Street Carpark in South Dunedin will undergo some repairs and resurfacing work next week.

For safety reasons, the carpark will be closed to the public for four days while this work is done.

Work is scheduled to start Tuesday, 29 October and finished by the end of the week on Friday, 1 November. Vehicle access to the park will be restricted for the four days while the resurfacing work is carried out.

The section of Rankeilor Street directly outside the carpark will also need to be closed at times to safely allow trucks in and out of the carpark.

A site foreman will allow some access to pedestrians and authorised vehicles to keep them safe around equipment.
The repair work includes the removal of an old rail fence and wheel stops, and patch repairs to the existing surface. This will then be followed by a full asphalt overlay and resurfacing.

There will be some noise associated with the work, but contractors will endeavour to minimise any disruption. Local businesses have been advised.

Regular access to the carpark is scheduled to resume Saturday, 2 November.

Further work to reinstate the wheel stops and rail fence is scheduled after the resurfacing work, but the park will remain open for this.
