Pine Hill School & Liberton Christian School safety improvements

The DCC will soon be undertaking road safety improvements around Pine Hill School and Liberton Christian School as part of the Safer School Streets project.

Safer School Streets was developed in 2018 to enhance road safety around schools, focusing on promoting safe walking, cycling, and scooting, while simultaneously improving the overall road environment for future school travel planning.

This new infrastructure will support the variable 30km/hr speed limit for school zones as outlined in the Interim Speed Management Plan 2023/24, which was consulted on in November 2022 and implemented in mid-late 2023. The design for these safety enhancements has been developed based on feedback received from the consultation that took place in 2021.

The maps below show the extent of the proposed works, which include:

  • Pine Hill Rd/Gladstone Rd– Kerb buildouts with new crossing points and road markings.
  • Pine Hill Rd – Raised courtesy crossing, road marking and relocate existing bus stop.
  • Pine Hill Rd/Hillary St/Allenby Ave – Kerb buildouts with crossing points and road markings.
  • Hillary St – Raised pedestrian crossing, lightening and road marking.
  • Pine Hill Rd/Hilsop St – Kerb buildouts with crossing points and road markings.
  • Hilsop St – Raised courtesy crossing and road marking.
  • Wilkinson St – Raised courtesy crossing and road marking.

The planned timeline for this work is for completion before end of June 2025.
