Why do we need a management plan for Logan Park?
This plan will outline our role in current and future planning, development and management of the area. It will allow us to respond to our community’s changing needs and enable efficient and effective use of the area.
What we’re proposing?
The draft plan outlines the ways we are proposing to improve the park. These include ways to improve recreational opportunities for park users. Ideas include ensuring facilities meet the needs of all users and respond to changing needs and emerging trends in participation of active recreation and sports. We also want to improve traffic circulation, parking and pedestrian access.
Stage 2 consultation
Thanks for all your feedback on our draft Logan Park Management Plan.
The second round of consultation closed on Monday 3 November. Your feedback will help shape the final plan, which will reflect what Dunedin people value about this space. We will update you soon on next steps.
Logan Park is a sport and recreation hub, providing facilities for a wide range of organised and informal sport and recreation activities and events.
We asked residents in the wider Dunedin area to provide feedback on Logan Park, how they used it, what its biggest issues were, and what activities they would like in the future.
Key feedback received included:
- Support for Logan Park to function as a key sports hub
- High level of satisfaction with Logan Park’s central location
- The need to reconsider parking to better serve users of Logan Park without affecting pedestrian comfort and safety
- Support for other events such as Baseline and other music shows
- Improved facilities for all genders and abilities
- Concerns about oversubscription and groups not using the booking system.
What happens next?
- The submission period is from Monday, 1 September to 5pm on Monday, 3 November 2025.
- Council hearing (if required – date to be decided) and submissions considered.
- Parks and Recreation staff will review feedback and prepare the final plan
- Adoption of final plan.
