Why do we need a management plan for Logan Park?
This plan will outline our role in current and future planning, development and management of the area. It will allow us to respond to our community’s changing needs and enable efficient and effective use of the area.
What we’re proposing?
The draft plan outlines the ways we are proposing to improve the park. These include ways to improve recreational opportunities for park users. Ideas include ensuring facilities meet the needs of all users and respond to changing needs and emerging trends in participation of active recreation and sports. We also want to improve traffic circulation, parking and pedestrian access.
Stage 2 consultation
As required by the Reserves Act 1977, all Dunedin reserves must be administered by a management plan. They set out policies for management and use of reserves.
We carry out consultation in two stages. In the first stage of consultation, held in mid-2023, we heard what people think about Logan Park, how they use it, what they like and don’t like about it, what its biggest issues are, and what activities they would like in the future.
Key feedback received included:
- Support for Logan Park to function as a key sports hub
- High level of satisfaction with Logan Park’s central location
- The need to reconsider parking to better serve users of Logan Park without affecting pedestrian comfort and safety
- Support for other events such as Baseline and other music shows
- Improved facilities for all genders and abilities
- Concerns about oversubscription and groups not using the booking system.
In the second stage, residents can have their say on the draft plan. Feedback will be considered by Council and fed into the final plan.
