FINNIE Rose - Candidate profile

My principal place of residence is in the Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board area. I am also standing for Council - At Large.
Locally-born with Filipino and Pākehā descent, I’m privileged to have grown up here in Mosgiel. I studied Communications at the University of Otago, and I currently work in both administration and the disability sector.
We have a diverse population in Mosgiel with an established older population, and increasingly more young families calling Mosgiel home. Mosgiel also exists at an intersection between rural and urban communities. I’m committed to listening to the broad range of views represented in Mosgiel and determined to advocate for the needs of our community to the council; such as accessibility or climate-resilience (flooding preparedness).
I value the importance of collaboration, empathy and learning. I also recognise the necessity in honouring Te Tiriti.
I find inspiration in my Nanna who passionately campaigned for our new swimming pool before she sadly passed away. Like her, I am committed to fight for Mosgiel.
Let’s make certain that Mosgiel thrives!
