Factory Road parking changes

Closing date: 11.59pm on Sunday 4 October

Proposed parking changes on Factory Road

In 2020 the Dunedin City Council trialled a crossing point on Factory Road between 83 and 85 Factory Road. While the crossing remains in place, it is now due for an upgrade. The Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board has also provided feedback on locations in Mosgiel where crossing facilities could be improved to make it safer for people walking. This crossing was identified as a high priority.

We are proposing to formalise the existing trial crossing by constructing a kerb build-out and pedestrian refuge island. These improvements will reduce crossing distances and make it safer and easier for people to cross the road.

We are about to begin the detailed design phase of the project, with construction currently expected to take place in early 2027The main change from the existing trial layout is the addition of yellow no stopping lines either side of the crossing. By preventing vehicles from parking close to the crossing, visibility will be improved and the crossing will be safer and easier to use.
