Hundreds of children to take part in annual Orange Day Parade

More than 600 primary school road patrollers are expected to wear their orange vests for the annual Orange Day Parade in Dunedin’s CBD this Friday.

More than 600 primary school road patrollers are expected to wear their orange vests for the annual Orange Day Parade in Dunedin’s CBD this Friday.

The parade kicks off a day of celebration for Dunedin children who volunteer for their school road patrol teams, along with the teachers and parents who support them.

The children will set off from the Dental School at 9.45am on Friday 28 November, before making their way down George Street to the Octagon.

The Deputy Mayor of Dunedin, Cherry Lucas, will congratulate the road patrollers when they reach the Octagon, before they are treated to a swim and a sausage sizzle at Moana Pool.

“This is a great way to show our appreciation for the children’s dedication throughout the year – in rain, wind, hail and shine – to keep our school crossings safe,” says Deputy Mayor Lucas. “They can all feel very proud of their efforts, and I hope they enjoy having a day of fun to celebrate.”
