Mosgiel and Otago Peninsula residents are urged to reduce water consumption as power outages in those areas impact the operation of wastewater pump stations.
John McAndrew, Group Manager 3 Waters, says that while there are no issues with the water supply, residents are encouraged to be mindful of the amount of wastewater going down their pipes.
"If possible, please refrain from using the dishwasher or the washing machine. Please limit showering and flushing as much as possible until the power is back on and our wastewater pump stations are back up and running."
McAndrew says staff have been working tirelessly throughout the day to keep the network running.
"3 Waters staff have been in the field all day and into the evening monitoring our pumps and pipes and minimising the impacts of the storm as much as possible."
