We’re asking for the views of residents in Mosgiel, the Taieri and the wider Dunedin area on the future of the Mosgiel Recreation Area, which includes Mosgiel Memorial Gardens, Mosgiel Memorial Sportsground, Peter Johnstone Park and the Silverstream Esplanade Reserve.
The Mosgiel Recreation Area provides facilities that support a wide range of sport and recreation activities and events. These include a memorial garden, destination playground and a skate park
The Silverstream Esplanade Reserve has been included in the area as it provides a grassed link from nearby properties into the reserve.
Your feedback will help shape a draft management plan for this area. There is currently no site-specific reserve management plan for the area.
Why do we need a management plan for this area?
Under the Reserves Act 1977, we’re required to develop a management plan for the Mosgiel Recreation Area to ensure it’s properly managed. Under the Act, we must consult with the public when we create or review a reserve management plan.
The plan for the Mosgiel Recreation Area will outline our role in current and future planning, development and management of the area. It will allow us to respond to our community’s changing needs, introduce best practice models and trends and enable efficient and effective use of the area.
