Electoral Information

The Local Body elections for the Dunedin City Council, Otago Regional Council and Otago District Health Board are held every 3 years, on the second Saturday in October.

The confirmed date for the next election is 9 October 2010. More information can be found on the Local Elections website (open in new window).

Are you enrolled to vote?

The Dunedin District Electoral roll is taken from the Parliamentary roll before a local body election and can be viewed in the Customer Services Agency.

  • 2nd floor of the Civic Centre
  • Dunedin Public Libraries
  • NZ Post Shops - for the latest copy for all Parliamentary Rolls

Enrolment update packs are always posted to all enrolled electors before an election. If you need to update your personal enrolment details, complete the form, sign it and post it back.

Ratepayer Enrolments

If you live in one area and pay rates on a property in another then you may qualify to enrol on the ratepayer electoral roll. If you wish to enrol as a ratepayer elector please complete and return this Enrolment Form (PDF, 37kb, open in new window). 

Please note that if you are on the Parliamentary electoral roll you will automatically be on the local authority residential electoral roll.
 


Which ward are you in?

You need to be enrolled to vote to know your ward. If you are already enrolled, check out your enrolment details at:

  • Any NZ Post Shop
  • Any of the Dunedin Public Libraries
