The sale of public assets into private ownership puts personal profit ahead of public good. Privatisation of water services in the UK has proven to be disastrous for localities. While an income stream from Aurora is a useful revenue source for the city it is not the sole reason to own the asset. Primarily public ratepayer ownership of Aurora with arms length management by a Council linked entity will best ensure that the local interests of citizens are put ahead of the private interests of for profit entities.
