I strongly advocate for the Dunedin Council to maintain ownership of Aurora Energy as it represents a valuable asset for our community. The lack of transparency regarding the allocation of its proceeds is deeply concerning. Selling Aurora Energy would only exacerbate the issue, potentially providing an opportunity for the council to benefit personally rather than serving the public interest. Moreover, selling the asset won't alleviate the burden of the exorbitant rate increases we've been experiencing. Given the council's history of questionable spending habits, characterized by embarrassingly frivolous expenditures, it's clear they cannot be trusted to make decisions in the best interest of the community. Therefore, retaining ownership of Aurora Energy is paramount to safeguarding our community's interests and financial stability.
