There has been no dividend paid by Aurora Energy since 2017 because they have paid for other developments in Dunedin such as the stadium, cycle ways ... Selling our biggest asset in the city is an insane idea. Sending this vote to Central Otago residents is wrong as they are NOT DUNEDIN RATE PAYERS - so why should they have a say. Aurora Energy is VERY likely to increase in value over time - instead of using their profit to prop up other developments that have issues that need money like the new look in the main street, debt with the stadium, cycle way developments let Aurora keep their profits so ratepayers have a true indication of the actual value of Aurora. A council should not just be making this decision, as it is very obvious that many have already made up their minds to sell. This should be a vote for all Dunedin rate payers (NOT Otago) Has the council thought of selling just part of the network - keep Dunedin sell the Central Otago branch ... then at least you have some asset left - instead of throwing all the babies out with the bath water - think creatively - out side the square - about what is best for the long term!
