Fine for a short term fix but I believe selling a utility company to private ownership will be detrimental to all in the future, typically overseas investors are only in for the money ,so will 'milk' what they can and then sell it later as a broken system. Ie power poles will be neglected again. minimum maintenance. increased line charges. less to no capital funding for development. NZR is a great example of how it will go wrong in the future
