Privatising public services such as electricity has proven to lead to worse outcomes eg in the UK — see for example this article: https://www.tni.org/en/article/the-united-kingdom-going-from-failed-energy-privatisation-to-partial-renationalisation. It would be better to keep Aurora Energy in Council hands but to look at ways in which it could be better managed, possibly leading to higher dividends. Athough selling Aurora Energy may seem like the preferred option in the short term, selling it into private hands is likely to lead to worse services as private companies are profit-oriented. Electricity supply is essential and will go through major changes in the upcoming decades. Keeping it as a public service would be a much better plan.
