The reason Aurora is in debt is that decades of short term thinking by the council gutted it for dividends.
Past behaviour predicts future behaviour: the investment fund will be progressively gutted by future councils looking for short term solutions.
And then we'll be faced with the same financial difficulty, but with no Aurora asset.
Maybe council should increase its income from other sources, get Aurora healthy again, and then we'll be sustainably run *and* eventually have Aurora dividends.
But that will be a short term vote loser, so... I guess we'll be worse off down the line.
