This sale is an easy option for council to pay down debt , instead of making more difficult decisions to make savings within all of Councils operations.
Why would you want to sell an extremely profitable company to someone else that only wants to make more money.
At present total debt is 25% of the value of assets , the money being borrowed is updating assets which is increasing the value of them. Don't forget that much of the debt issues have been caused by previous Councils raping Aurora to pay for other projects just because it could afford to. Now is payback time.
Aurora has still been making dividends to Council, last year $11,000,000. Dunedin City Holdings will be in a right mess without Aurora's support requiring more debt to keep it in order.
I see Aurora as DCC's Golden Apple which is Government guaranteed , look into the future and see what an incredible asset it is and what it will become.
I would just like to finish by saying how disappointed I am at the way this proposal and its associated propaganda has been put together by management and staff whom are obviously of the opinion that Aurora should be sold.
