Option Two – The alternative option – Keep Aurora Energy

The council needs to stop selling its assets, or like what will it even have control over by the end of it? What’s the point of a public authority when everything is under private control? It’s always about money and debt, and never about what would actually be good for a city. All good cities invest their money into public infrastructure, and it might lose them a lot of money, but if they are doing everything right, they make it back, or at least become somewhere that’s really nice for people to live. This plan will end up with lots of money (but probably not enough to settle our debts, it never is), and nothing important to use the money for. Do something for the actual people of this city, the workers, the students, the people who would benefit from keeping the energy under council control instead for the rich businesspeople who just want to use it to generate profit. Being in debt is how cities grow and get better. We’ll be in debt either way, better to be taking on debt that benefits the Dunedin people, than reducing it to benefit the corporations.
