In my opinion it appears to make sense to sell the above company--with a few BUTS?.
No doubt it will reduce the now rather large debt the city has accumulated (due in part to Aurora Energy) during the past few years.
• But, a major proportion of the returns must be wisely invested in debt reduction, thus saving the ever increasing demand on ratepayers.
• As stated, the balance will be invested for future use, if or when required. (This is almost a statement saying--we know the city will overspend again, so here is a backstop for that eventuality).
• It is so easy for local governments to make decisions--often due to administration mis-management, to rectify a shortfall in finances. In other words--a budget blow out. And of course the ratepayer has to pay.
I have also submitted to the Annual Plan.
