The provision of power to households in Dunedin provides us with the means to meet our fundamental human needs for food and warmth.
So the lines network is quite important but has, in the past, been under maintained to the point of being judged by some as near failure.
I fear that the sale of Aurora to a for-profit organization would further distance its decisions from oversight.
In that scenario, would we see decisions motivated by profit being prioritised over the well being of Dunedin residents?
I think that this is an asset that ought not be charged with making a profit.
