I base my objection on the fact that the sale will result in increased costs to users who, largely (excluding Lakes District) are Dunedin City rate payers. Any purchaser outlaying an expected $1bn will want a commercial return on investment and reflecting on the result sales of infrastucture assets owned by the public in NZ (eg power generation), and in particular, recently exposed commercial behaviour in the UK (eg power provision and three waters), costs to users have increased, not decreased and service delivery worsened.
