I consider that Aurora is a strategic asset which, as mentioned, is an intergenerational asset. This generation have a responsibility to ensure that local control is maintained over such a significant regional asset.
In a section in the dropdown documents under the heading DCHL's Recommendation, the first sentence states that "major infrastructure investors with different objectives to Council's objectives are willing to buy..." The ODT 26/4/2024, article by Sophie Barker, states that DCHL's principal activity... is to provide leadership on behalf of the ultimate shareholder, the DCC." But, there is also information that cannot be shared with the public.
How can one have confidence that selling Aurora will not result in very different decisions being made that primarily benefit non-local or foreign investors and shareholders?
