Unless you're expecting the mass uptake of home power-generation such as solar and you want to get rid of it before it's worthless, then privatisation simply costs us all more in the long-run. Power is hugely profitable, especially in chilly Dunedin - and a privatised Aurora would constantly seek greater profits which come directly from the wallets of Dunedin families. Do council members intend to invest in Aurora once privatised? If you do, it will be because of its profitability which, to my mind, will prove my point - it's a key public asset and should be retained.
