Nearly every time a national or local government sell a major utility company there is an increase in prices and a drop in services. The new owners often strip out the best assets and we are left with the shell of the previous company which is often such a disaster that national or local government buy it back (eg.KiwiRail). Selling it also means we loose a lot of public oversight. Climate change is already wrecking destruction. We need to to keep this company local and its operations need to be visible.
