Further comment
Public assets that take time to give a positive return to tax payers have a long history in this country and elsewhere in the western world of being sold off on the spurious claim they’re a liability or a poor return on investment and that the money gained from selling, is needed now.
This strategy typically doesn’t benefit rate payers!
Aurora is providing an essential service. Namely electricity to power homes, government activities and businesses. It is not an elective, discretionary service. Everyone needs electricity.
Once sold off & in private ownership with an obligation to provide returns to shareholders, costs of service provision always increase and typically the level of service declines.
There is no advantage consequently to the taxpayer in selling off this essential service.
This is a short sighted, opportunistic strategy which ultimately will hurt ratepayers.
Do not sell Aurora.
