Further comment
Aurora Energy is a fundamental piece of our infrastructure and should remain publicly owned. It is a strategic asset and a natural monopoly (only one set of powerlines). If sold to a private owner, there would be no competition and private ownership would demand it turn a profit, most likely at the expense of the people (ratepayers). I believe selling this asset is a short sighted decision that council and the people of Otago would regret.
