Which option do you prefer?
Option Two – The alternative option – Keep Aurora Energy
Further comment
Committing to selling essential infrastructure to a private company (for an undetermined price) in order to invest the funds is essentially gambling with the futures of every ratepayer in Dunedin. This is appalling and irresponsible of the council. Is a private buyer for Aurora just going to not pass on costs of operation down to the ratepayers out of the goodness of their hearts? Won't they be mandated to make a profit? Versus the council owning it as an essential utility, not for the purpose of delivering financial profits, but for delivering essential services? Council must not proceed with their preferred option of selling Aurora Energy. Keep this as an essential asset and do not look to make a quick buck.
