Hairdressers

On 31 July 2025 the Health (Hairdressers) Regulations 1980 were revoked. This means hairdressers and barbers no longer need to be registered or inspected by DCC staff.  Instead, the government released new public health guidance that all operators should follow to maintain good hygiene standards.

Setting up a new business

If you’d like to set up a new hairdressing or barbering business, whether from a salon or from home, we recommend speaking to our Building and Planning departments before commencing trade as other permits or permissions may be required.
