What is your feedback on the proposed changes
The proposed parking, I believe, will effect the Port Chalmers community negatively. A high number of the patrons using the Library are the elderly with mobility issues and young families wanting to park as near as possible. The new parallel mobility park and huge sweeping curves of the moved crossing, take away 8 parks right out the front of the library. Many patrons hold disability parking permits and there would now only be 1 park in that area. That mobility park is also used daily for drop offs to the local children's rehabilitation physio on George Street. Already with the amount of parks available, at many times, they are all full.- This includes tradies at the Port parking in 30 minute parks all day. Moving the crossing will create huge congestion on cruise ship days right in front of the library entrance making it further off putting to locals on cruise ship days trying to access the library.
