Why is this happening ? I have read a sign outside the library stating ‘parking changes ARE coming to this area’. Sounds like it’s a done deal. 8 thirty minute parks outside the tunnel pub is not sufficient !! The library is also a service centre - people come to use the computers (often taking more than an hour) elderly wanting to pay rates, get rates relief, dog registration etc will be actively discouraged due to parking. I have just visited the library (Friday before Christmas) and there was only one park available. Two families were in the library so who was using the parks. Can you guarantee the proposed parks will NOT be used by Port Otago workers or others ? The pedestrian crossing now is visible to trucks coming down from George St, allowing time to slow down. Moving the crossing will mean the trucks will be on the crossing as they turn the corner. Was the community board consulted about all of this ?
