30 minutes parking is too short for visiting the library, shops or cafes in Port. Apart from browsing for a book, I have use printing services on a regular basis and it's impossible to do this in 30 mins! Similarly, it would be difficult to visit a cafe within 30 mins (assuming you're only buying a takeaway).
Vehicles that belong to Port Otago workers park in these spaces all day, especially visiting contractors on the new office and that is very frustrating but a limitation of 30 minutes is ridiculous.
There are no details on the proposal regarding meters so I assume these spaces remain free. But it would be much fairer to convert 2 x free 30 min and 8 x free 120 minutes, and 2 x 4 hour paid parking spots.
