Parking in this area is extremely tight as it is. To remove 35 free parking spaces would not be good for the nearby business, all to support one business, being Kmart. Yes there will not be enough parking for Kmart staff and customers and this should have been recognised by Council when the proposal was submitted to build Kmart where it is. They should have had to be made to build a parking level. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Kmart fan. But there are a lot of business in the area and their staff need somewhere to park. You will see that by 8am there are no parks in this area as they are all taken up by people working in the area. Add the Kmart workers to this area and parking is going to be even harder to find. Remove another 35 car parking spots and where do the workers in the area park? And for a lot of people taking the bus is not an option - I personally would have to walk 20 minutes to the bus stop, take a bus into town, then walk from the Oval. Then repeat this process at the end of the day. This makes for a very long day, especially in winter when it is wet and dark. Do NOT take away these car parks and make them 1hr. The workers in the area need them.
