Many students and residents in the north Dunedin/ harbour terrace area do not have the luxury of off street parking at their properties. Finding parking in this area is already a big struggle and imposing a time restriction on these parks will increase the chances of students getting parking fines and possibly missing classes if they need to be in uni for the day. I believe that these parking restrictions are likely to cause more stress around parking for students and potentially financial stress if they are unable to move their vehicle in time and receive a parking ticket.
Time restrictions will increase car turnover but will benefit only those who don’t live in the area whom are more likely to be able to afford paid parking for the day. As a student and a vehicle owner living on Dundas St with very limited off street parking, I strongly oppose the conversion of these unrestricted parks into restricted parking.
