I work at Otago University Childcare Association situated at 137 Union St. We have an absolute nightmare every day with trying to find a carpark. We arrived at work today to find workman changing some of the all day parks on Union St to 120 parks, reducing an already limited number of parking for people working in the area. Students cars are parked permanently on the other side of Union St, mainly made up of people living at the Polytec hall of residence. This means this parks are never empty until the term breaks and students leave the city.
We have a massive problem with people overstaying in the parks outside our centre and when parents want to pick up and drop off their child they cannot get a park. We were trying to police this and contact the DCC if there were cars parking over the time but patrol doesn't happen often enough to make any difference. Since the parks right outside the centre have been changed to diagonal parking we have even more people over staying. Parking is an absolute joke down here and you are now planning to make it even worse. Sort it out DCC !!!
