The parking in the polytechnic and university area is already hard enough without restricting it further. Also a lot of the flats in the area don't have off street parking, so restricting the parking in that area to 4 hours would make it difficult for some residents. For the students who have a full day of classes to be able to park in the area, as they would have to move there car and risk not being able to find another park before their next class. University doesn't have a lunch break and students can have classes back to back all day. Polytechnic have some courses with lunchtime tutorials also meaning they don't have time for hunting for parks. We need parks added not removed or restricted. For example the section of grass on Harbour Terrace that is part of Logan Park area often isn't used (has been occasionally used as extra parking for important game) could be turned into several rows of permanent parking for the area. We don't have enough parking in the area and this proposal would hugely impact the students and staff in the tertiary area.
