What is your feedback on the proposed changes
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed changes on Harbour Terrace.
This street is entirely populated by students, who rely heavily on these parking spaces due to the lack of off-street parking at our densely populated flats. These changes will have severe negative impacts on our daily lives and our ability to manage both studies and finances. With virtually no off-street parking available, most residents depend entirely on street parking. The demand for parking is already extremely high, and it is often difficult to find a space even with the current no time limit arrangement. Introducing a 2-hour parking limit will exacerbate this issue, forcing students to move their cars multiple times a day, which is not only inconvenient but also impractical given our academic schedules. Even nearby streets with no time limit are overcrowded, as they are also populated by students facing the same issues.
It appears that these proposed changes may primarily benefit visitors to Logan Park, which hosts various sports activities. While it is important to support local recreational areas, there are already parking options available on the other side of the park. Shifting the parking burden onto students does not solve the issue but rather creates new problems for a significant portion of the local population.
I strongly urge the council to reconsider their proposal.
