What is your feedback on the proposed changes
Dear Regulation Management Team Thanks you for the notification of the proposed permanent placement of the P30 car parks outside of 154 Hillside Road. I think this has been a great move on the DCC’s part, given that we have lost the same number of carparks by the moving the bus stop from outside 154 Hillside Road to around the corner at King Edward Street, near the NZR overhead rail bridge. Thank you for this move. The loss of the 6 car parks on King Edward Street outside the building site for the new South Dunedin Library has been noted by customers of businesses in the immediate area. The businesses customers have been complaining that they are having to park much further away from the businesses when they need to attend them. How long will the carparks outside the new South Dunedin Library building site be blocked o􀆯 for? We as a business community in South Dunedin welcome the long awaited South Dunedin Library and Community Centre. B But we business owners have major concerns at the lack of extra car parks being allowed for the number of extra people that will be visiting the area to go to the Library and Community Centre. All the new libraries around New Zealand that were researched for the design of the South Dunedin Library have car park areas as part of their design. Where are those car parks in South Dunedin? The existing carpark in Rankellor Street is already well used and full most of the time, so this is inadequate for the extra people who will be visiting the area. Changing existing unlimited carparking in surrounding streets, where businesses sta􀆯 already park will not be welcomed at all. What are your plans for car parki provision for the people visiting the South Dunedin Library and Community Centre? Kind regards Craig Waterhouse Project Dental President South Dunedin Business Association
