The esplanade as it is suffers from excessive vehicle traffic in a highly pedestrianised area. At present on any given weekend it is normal for a continuous flow of cars to drive around these narrow roads in a loop looking for parks. Reducing the time limit of these parks will just encourage more vehicles to filter through the esplanade. What the esplanade desperately needs is to be closed to private vehicles from the forbury rd roundabout end. Vehicles should only have access from the beach street end for parking.
