With insufficient half and full day paid parking available in the nearby area converting these bays to shorter term parking would restrict ability for staff at nearby offices from having parking available within walking distance of their office. In doing so this will force more people to work from home and ultimately negatively impacting cafes and other businesses in the area. Considering one of Dunedin’s largest employers is in this area if these changes are made and people work from home that could have significant impact on local businesses. Opposition to this would decrease if the council map more full day parks available in the nearby area.
