9 yr plan 2025 and Local Water Done Well Submission

Submission

9 year plan feedback

Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Yes, remove 231 Stuart Street from the list of strategic assets (this is our preferred option)

Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?

Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
No, do not introduce an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST)

Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
I do not support introducing this entry fee as it is off-putting for international visitors and will affect visitor numbers. It would also be difficult to administer. How do staff decide who is an international visitor - are they expected to check with everyone who has an accent or is from a different culture? Imagine how culturally insensitive that would be! It would also be unlikely that current staff numbers could effectively manage this, given the extra administration, money handling etc.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
I support the development of the Smooth Hill Landfill and that it should be DCC-owned and run. This location has been extensively and rigorously evaluated and we now need to make it happen. I also agree with introducing Sunday parking charges. I do not agree with pausing the development of more community housing. Housing for vulnerable people is a key issue in our community and I would like to see significant funding reinstated for this purpose. While I support the extension of the Peninsula Connection, I would prefer to see funding spent on community housing and have the roading extension delayed.

Local Water Done Well feedback

Which water services delivery model do you support?
The Council’s preferred option: an in-house delivery model

Why did you choose this option?
I would prefer to see these vital services remain under direct DCC control.

Do you have any other feedback related to the proposed water services delivery models?
It's not clear from the consultation document why we would be considering a shared services arrangement with CCC, rather than another Otago council/s. Presumably there will be more information about this to come?
