Should we remove 231 Stuart Street (formerly the Fortune Theatre) from the list of strategic assets in the DCC Significance and Engagement policy?
Do you have any comments about 231 Stuart Street?
Should we charge an entry fee of $20 (incl. GST) for international visitors aged 16 and over, at Toitū and Dunedin Public Art Gallery?
Do you have any comments about the entry fee for international visitors?
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
I live on the Otago Peninsula and I do not have a car, so I ride bikes and take public transport (when it is available to do so).
The area between Portobello town and the bus turnaround area is particularly dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists. There are no shoulders on either side of the road. Cars, campervans, buses are frequent passers and they generally do not maintain a 1m distance. Vehicles seem loathe to wait while cyclists are cycling up the hill and the other side of the road has a blind corner and they frequently overtake in a very close and inconsiderate manner.
I do not understand why the cycle path hasn't continued on this stretch of busy Portobello road as it is super dangerous stretch of narrow road.
Also dangerous is the stretch between the boat ramp and the Portobello Hall with no footpath and the shoulder shared by pedestrians and cyclists using it to travel in both directions.
Perhaps it is time that council appreciates that the Otago Peninsular is precious, it is touted as the wildlife oasis in Dunedin, however due to the nature (volume/speed/rubbish thrown out) of the vehicular activity, bird life, and humans are at risk. This seems inherently wrong to me. Not everyone chooses to own a car and bikes should be given precedence especially where there is an abundance of wildlife.
Perhaps a bike cage in Portobello town, where folks who live further out could leave their bikes in a weather and theft safe lockup?
Very inadequate signs for the ducks and other birdlife and about bicyclists and sharing the road. Very very poor.
